Primary Research

As part of my primary research, here are two main examples of two of my friends who could be considered as part of our target audience. When asking questions about music videos both individuals had different opinions about the topic and each spoke about what they believed made an music video interesting to watch, furthermore I think that our music video is able to appeal to younger generations.

This is one of my friends named Shayan Khan. She is 18 years old, lives in Saudi Arabia and she enjoys meeting and socialising with new people. Shayan is a very confident and loud individual and she is not afraid to speak her mind. Her musical tastes vary from hip-hop and pop to rock. She says that she almost watches music videos daily however she says that she could last not watching a music video for a month. Her daily consumption of music is mainly through Youtube, however occasionally watches music channels like MTV. A feature of an music video which would appeal to Shayan is the simplicity of the video. She doesn't like music videos which have a complicated meaning behind it, as she enjoys listening to the lyrics of the song creating a relaxed environment around her.

This is Naomi Monteiro another one of my friends from Saudi Arabia. She is 18 years old, enjoys reading and likes partying and going out with her friends. Her favourite genre of music is Rock and RnB, but has also listened to other genres like Indie. Normally, she would watch music videos once a week, and watch them through Youtube. Naomi doesn't agree with some music videos having a narrative constructed around the song as she thinks that the entire meaning of the lyrics in the song would be taken away, making it less personal for her as a fan. She likes watching music videos that are full of quirky and diverse ideas so that it is visually engaging for her to watch.
